A true communications generalist, Michaela helps clients achieve their desired outcomes through a broad variety of mediums, from communications plans with detailed strategies to stakeholder events. She loves seeing a client project come together — and she has the passion and drive to get it there — whether that’s by reaching target audiences with an effective PR campaign or helping clients tell their story.
Michaela is an experienced consultant who has worked both in agencies and in-house. Prior to joining Coast Comms, she was at an industry association, the Electrical Contractors Association of British Columbia.
Michaela is currently serving on the board of directors of the Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre, British Columbia’s largest sexual assault support centre. Her past and current roles with non-profits and on various political campaigns at provincial and federal levels provide her with a well-rounded and innovative approach to communications. Having focused on provincial politics, her most prominent experience includes working at BC Liberal Party headquarters, supporting a 2018 bid for leadership of the BC Liberal Party and leading communications for a Vancouver candidate’s campaign in the 2020 B.C. election.
After growing up in Kamloops, Michaela set off to experience other parts of the world. She is a graduate of the University of Ottawa with an Honors Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Studies and Modern Languages. As part of her education, she completed an academic exchange in Moscow, Russia and an internship in Vietnam at a non-governmental organization working to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by unexploded ordnance remaining after the Vietnam War.
When not working or volunteering, you can find Michaela challenging herself on indoor rock-climbing walls and spending time with her black cat, Oriane.
